Men, women, children, minorities, ages, races, ethnic groups, and social classes often suffer from bipolar disorder. It is a brain disorder that is that leads to shifts in the individual’s moods. The illness is passed on through genetics to other family members. Like depression and other serious illnesses, bipolar disease can also negatively affect spouses and partners, family members, friends, and co-workers (co-students) (dbsaalliance 2003, 1).”
